Little Prince Party Blog Hop

Welcome to the Little Prince Party Blog Hop!!! I am so happy Jessica has asked me to take part in this hop to celebrate her little guy's birthday! (Happy Birthday Mason!!!!) If you have just stumbled upon this hop, make sure to head back to the beginning - Homespun Elegance!!

Jessica asked us to create something 'boy' themed, which can be a little tough for me sometimes.... I definitely live in a girl world! BUT I had fun changing things up to make something without pink, glitter or bows!!

I am sooooo in love with the Superhero Trio Cutting Files from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons and have always thought these characters would make some cute cupcake toppers! I went with Batman...

I started with the Batman cutting file, traced it, printed, then cut it out with my cameo. The chevron circle was printed, then cut as well. I used yellow cardstock to cut out the "spikey" circles (seriously, what ARE those called?!). Once I adhered my chevron circle to the yellow circle, I used foam stickers to add my Batman on top.

I made some in blue as well... My cupcake wrapper came from the Silhouette store. To put my toppers together, I used a second yellow/blue circle (for the back side of my topper), a toothpick and ZipDry glue. Once I glued my toothpick to the center of my second yellow/blue circle, I added the top (Batman) over top of the toothpick.

Here is what I used to make my project...
- Chevron digital paper from Sassy Designs
- regular cardstock
- toothpicks
- ZipDry glue & foam stickers

Heartstring Designs has been kind and generous enough to be letting me give away the Heartstring Designs February Kit of the Month!!!

PPPR - So Totally Awesome

It's Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons DT Day!!! Love these days!! :)

I have been wanting to play with Lisa's Dino-Mite files for a while now and I finally got the chance...

I started out with a plain white (textured) base and gave it a couple spritz's of Ditto shimmer spray to give it a funky look.  My sentiment came from the Pink By Design stamp set - Bracketful.

The Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon files I used to make this card were the Dino-Mite set...

as well as the Borders 3 set...

Make sure to head over to the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons blog to check out the rest of the DT's awesome projects!!

Yumm-A-Lish

I seriously cannot believe Easter is already this weekend!!! We still have SO much snow! I guess the egg hunt will be in the house this year! I have a quick little project and tutorial to share with you today! Before I get started with my project, I wanted to let you know there is an awesome Easter sale going on over at Peppermint Creative you won't want to miss!! :)

Easter treat bag topper silhouette 1
Supplies Used:
- Peppermint Creative Hoppy Easter Papers and Hoppy Easter Elements
Silhouette Software
- Plain white card-stock
- Ribbon
- Adhesive pearls
- Foam stickers (pop dots)
- Two sided tape
I created my cut out elements using my Silhouette machine. If you don’ t have a digital cutting machine you can print the elements you’d like use with your printer and cut them by hand if you have some patience and a good pair of craft scissors.

Here’s how I created the print & cut elements using Silhouette Studio
Step 1: In Silhouette Studio open a new document create a rectangle for the base of your topper. The size will vary depending on the size of the bag you will be using – my bag was 4 inches wide, so my rectangle measured 4 ½” x 5”
NOTE: Keep in mind your topper will be folded in half later on, so if you want your topper to be 2 ½” tall, then double it to make it 5” tall.
Step 2: Open window on your computer where your digital paper is stored. Make sure rectangle in Silhouette Software is selected, then drag and drop the desired digital paper over onto the rectangle to fill it with the pattern
Step 3: Under FILE, select MERGE and open up the following elements: easter basket, candy corn/jelly beans and flowers
Step 4: Scale all elements down to fit onto your topper base. (Keep in mind your rectangle will end up being half as tall). Scale/arrange candy to fit into your easter basket.
Step 5: To create a white border around all the elements, use the TRACE function. Use the SELECT TRACE AREA to create a square around element, uncheck HIGH PASS FILTER and increase THRESHOLD slider all the way to the right. Select TRACE (this will create an outline around element)

Step 6: Select outline around element, open the OFFSET WINDOW. Choose OFFSET, use slider to achieve the amount of white border around element. Go back and delete original TRACE outline
Step 7: Check to make sure the elements will be cut along the proper lines by using the Cut Style window.

Step 8: Align all elements on mat within registration marks

Step 9: Send to printer and feed through Silhouette to cut elements out!
Now for the assembly:
Step 1: Add pearls to flowers and ribbon to basket

Step 2: Fold topper base in half, add foam stickers to elements and adhere to topper

Step 3: Using two sided tape (one strip on each side of the inside/bottom of the topper) adhere to treat bag.

Pretty easy, right?!? Hope you enjoyed my tutorial today!!! There will be more where this came from!! ;)

This weekend I played with some of my Pretty Little Studio goodies! I LOVE their products, but I always struggle with them. I'm hoping I will get better with them eventually! :)

A New Family! :)

Hey crafty friends!!! Guess what... I have been holding out on you all for a few days! But the good news is that it's time to spill the beans! :)

I am now a part of the
Peppermint Creative Design Team!!
I have only been a part of this team for a few days and I am LOVING it!!! Such a fun and talented group of ladies!!! PLUS Miss Mint (owner/designer for Peppermint Creative) is so amazingly talented that I have been on creative OVERDRIVE looking at all her goodies!! (If you would like to check out the announcement - go HERE!!)

For those of you who do not know, Peppermint Creative is a source for great digital and printable scrapbook products. They have an amazing selection - you really need to check it out!! They also have a really fun online community with TONS of information (about everything from photography tips/tutorials to publication calls to random fun discussions!). If you need any inspiration the Peppermint Creative Gallery is a great place to visit!! Seriously awesome projects in there!

Now that I have given you a little insight on Peppermint Creative, I want to share my very first project with you!!!! For those of you who don't frequent my blog, since the purchase of my Cameo about a year ago I have really fallen in love with the print/cut feature. Learning to use print/cut has opened up a whole new WORLD for me where I can now combine digital scrapbooking elements (paper, graphics, etc.) with the traditional style of scrapbooking! (Can you sense my excitement?!?!?!) This brings me to my place within the Peppermint Creative family - the Hybrid Team....

Enough talk... Here is my project... :)

Hey Everyone!! My post is up super late today... :( I don't know what has been up with me lately but I feel like I have the memory of an 80 year old...

It's Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Day!!!

My little bear is from the Santa's Helpers cutting file set. This little bear is soo simple to put together but still has lots of detail and dimension, which I love!

I also used the Borders 2 Cutting Files set for my borders along the sides of my card. I used foam stickers to make my borders stand out, to make it look like the teddy bear is peeking out from behind.

I finally used my Bear Hugs stamp set from Pink By Design that I've had for months!

Here is what I used to make my card...
- Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Cutting files: Santa's Helpers & Borders 2

Sympathy

Happy Monday!! Hope you all had a GREAT weekend!! We did! The weather was amazing yesterday so we could spent the day outside together (even baby Taylah!). We went to Grandma and Grandpa's to go tobagganing, then over to our Uncles's to go for a horse/wagon ride and then some visiting while all the kids played. It was the perfect way to end winter... Now the snow can take a hike! :)

Today I have a sympathy card to share. This card is such an exception to my regular cards because I didn't even use my cameo!!!!

Usually I try to keep my sympathy cards pretty simple and elegant. I wanted to try to keep it to one color, so I used clear embossing powder for my background swirls. The butterfly was from a Martha Stewart punch with a little ink along it's wings to make sure it stood out from the paper.

Here is what I used to make my card...
- Pink By Design Swirl background stamp
- Pink By Design Sympathy set
- Martha Stewart butterfly punch
- clear and white embossing powder
- Recollections pearls
- Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

So Loved

YAWWWWWN. Today I am so jealous of anyone who can catch a nap. :) When I first made this layout I thought my little angel was having a sweet little thought with her eyes closed... today, I'm pretty sure she's happily having a nap! :)

I used my FAVORITE stack EVER by Recollections for this layout - Today, Tomorrow, Forever. This is the only stack I can honestly say that I am going to buy a second of.

I know this angel is super adorable, but please take a moment to appreciate that awesome chevron ribbon behind her clouds. Isn't it the prettiest ribbon ever?! I bought it from Little Free Radical (Etsy) but I know there are a few places that sell it.

Check out how fine the letters in my title are... Super intricate and my cameo had NO problem cutting them. Man, I LOVE that machine!!

What I used to make this layout...
- Today, Tomorrow, Forever Recollections stack
- Kadoodle Bug Designs Angel SVG
- Clouds & stars from Silhouette store
- sentiment from Baby Love by Pink By Design

Hope you all have a great day!! :)
