80s Blog Hop!!!

First off HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Emily!!! I hope you have a day as amazing as you are!!!!!! Thanks for letting me be a part of the celebration! :) Second, welcome to Emily's Back to the 80 Birthday Blog Hop!! If you are coming here from Tanya's blog then you're in the right place!! If you have just come across this hop, make sure you head back to Emily's blog! You don't want to miss any blogs on this hop, trust me!! :)

So, if you are like my husband, you may be thinking,"Hello Kitty is 80s?!?!!?!?!?". And my answer is, yes, to me Hello Kitty is 80s! :) I was born in 1983 so I don't think I remember a lot of the 80s in the same way some might... When I was a little girl I had a Hello Kitty stuffed doll that I loved and found myself thinking about years later. I even remember watching a Hello Kitty cartoon on TV! Since I know some of you - including my hubby - think I am nuts that HK was 80s.... I googled, and found this!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDg0uCfBWn0

So awesome, because I very vaguely remembered that I had it in the bathtub, and when I watched this it all came back to me!!!
I have been in love with Hello Kitty ever since, and when I started to see her all over the place again, I was soooooo excited!! Now I buy my girls everything Hello Kitty.

The very first thing that popped into my mind when I started brainstorming an 80s idea was the "Girls just wanna have fun" song... And of course this is soooo fitting for my daughter, Bria!! I don't know any little girls who are more fun than Bria!! She has a zest for life that I hope never fades!!!

I went with neon colors - of course! I'm not gonna lie... when I started to notice that neon was coming back in style I was very disappointed. Needless to say, I think it has started to wear on me! My girls even have some neon clothes!!

I found a pack of awesome neon Martha Stewart glitter at Michaels a couple weeks ago and I knew it would be PERFECT for this hop! I created a sparkle "splash" look on the background paper. I spritzed Goosebumps glue on the purple paper and then covered it in one color of glitter. Once it dried, I did the same with another color. I am in love with the result! It almost looks like paint splashed on the paper, except it sparkles!!

Of course no hop would be complete without some candy!!! I am giving away some Twine from The Twinery!!!

Please make sure you are a follower and leave a comment with a way to get in contact with you!! :)

Hope you liked my project!! Now onto my friend Elizabeth's blog for some more 80s inspiration!!!

Hi Everyone!! Hope you are having a great weekend so far! Brittyn's had a fever the last two days so she's been pretty miserable. :( She's been either in my arms or on my lap for the majority of the day (including now). I hope she feels better soon, poor little monkey.

So I have ANOTHER layout today!! The pics are from when we were taking Brittyn home from the hospital. I made it for the Pink By Design Anniversary Marathon! If you haven't stopped over there yet, you really should. There is a new project being posted every hour until tonight!! The DT did such an amazing job on their projects. ALSO, they are having a 30% off sale this weekend at the Pink By Design store. You might want to check that out, I have never seen them offer 30% off before... some great deals to be had! I know I couldn't resist, and may have went a tad overboard...

I used the So Big set by PBD to add Brittyn's weight the day she left the hospital (bottom right hand corner of LO). I love this set for doing a baby scrapbook, wish I would've had it for Bria's first year!

I used the Hello Kitty Font cart for 'precious' and Baby Steps for 'cargo'. The letters were welded together on my gypsy. The train (3") and bear (2") were cut from Create A Critter. The bear's face was from the Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed set by Peachy Keen. I embossed the train using a flowered cuttlebug folder (sorry... don't have the name) and used Recollections pearls on the wheels. The baby is cut at 2.25" from Baby Steps and her face is from the Just Baby Faces set by Peachy Keen.

A little while ago I had someone ask me about the faces on a lot of my layouts/cards. I get them from an online store called Peachy Keen Stamps. They're actually having a sale this weekend, check it out! They have some adorable face stamps!!

I also want to say thanks to those of you who have participated in the Celebrate Summer Link Up Party so far!! It's had a great turnout and there are some AWESOME blogs linked up!! Keep spreading the word so we can discover more and more new blogs!!

Baby Picasso

*** Click HERE for my GIVEAWAY!! ***

Hi Everyone!! So sorry this post took longer than I had anticipated... A quick one page layout turned into a two page layout! AND we got a surprise call that my husband's parents are coming here tomorrow for a few days so I have been getting prepared for company.

The pics in this layout are from when Bria made her very first finger painting! LOL Such a typical first time parent... taking pics of every time the first born blinks!
Apparently my mind was elsewhere when I was working on this layout and I made an error... I'm hoping no one notices??

My pictures are not the greatest... I lost my light tonight.

I was so excited about my new Recess cart!! It's awesome!!

Here are some details...
  • the frame around Bria's painting came from Pooh and Friends cut at 8". I used gold brads in the corners to look like nails
  • the title came from a combination of Baby Steps and Hello Kitty Font. I welded the letters together on my gypsy
  • the cute little paintbrush came from Recess, I used glossy accents over the paint to make it look more like real pain
  • the sentiment on the bottom of the frame reads 'From small beginnings come great things' from the Baby Love set by Pink By Design. I embossed it with white embossing powder
  • the other paint brushes and palette also came from Recess, the paint on the palette is also embellished with glossy accents and I inked around the palette with Tim Holtz ink
  • the buttons are basic grey
  • the pearls are from the dollarstore
  • I used my Martha Stewart drippy goo border punch along the blue layer and added glossy accents to make the paint more realistic
  • twine from the twinery
  • recollections brads
  • doodles with white gelly roll pen

If you haven't checked out my giveaway yet, you should! (Link at the top of this post...) It hasn't been overly successful so far... :( But I guess that means a better chance for anyone who enters!!
